Jan Svěrák’s EMPTIES (VRATNÉ LAHVE) recently won Gold in the feature competition of the 16th Damascus International Film Festival (November 1-11).
Other recent wins include the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the West County Film Festival in California.
The film, which broke box office records upon release in the Czech Republic, previously won two Czech Lions for Best Director (Jan Svěrák) and Best Screenplay (Zdeněk Svěrák) earlier this year and was also recognised with the gong for Best Screenplay and the Audience Award at the 2007 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
