Tilda is a tough, streetwise circus girl, with a heart of gold. With the help of her dog, she rescues Arthur Miles from Dr Glasson's foul orphanage and sets out to find his family. Together they escape across the West Country - by foot, barge and even motor-car - meeting weird and wonderful characters as they go. Tilda's grit and determination cannot be underestimated.
